The Social-Emotional Turing Challenge
نویسندگان
چکیده
the emotions of others is an essential part of being a socially functioning human. Without it we would not know what actions will most likely make others around us happy versus mad or sad. Our abilities to please friends, placate enemies, inspire our children, and secure cooperation from our colleagues would suffer. For these reasons a truly intelligent human-level AI will need the ability to reason about other agents’ emotions in addition to intellectual capabilities embodied in other tasks such as the Winograd schema challenge, textbook reading and question answering (Gunning et al. 2010, Clark 2015), image understanding, or task planning. Considering Social and Emotional Artificial Intelligence
This paper presents the concepts of social and emotional intelligence as elements of human intelligence that are complementary to the intelligence assessed by the Turing Test. We argue that these elements are gaining importance as human users are increasingly conceptualising machines as social entities. We describe an implementation of Sensitive Artificial Listeners which provides a hands-on ex...
متن کاملSome improvements in fuzzy turing machines
In this paper, we improve some previous definitions of fuzzy-type Turing machines to obtain degrees of accepting and rejecting in a computational manner. We apply a BFS-based search method and some level’s upper bounds to propose a computational process in calculating degrees of accepting and rejecting. Next, we introduce the class of Extended Fuzzy Turing Machines equipped with indeterminacy s...
متن کاملTowards a Visual Turing Challenge
As language and visual understanding by machines progresses rapidly, we are observing an increasing interest in holistic architectures that tightly interlink both modalities in a joint learning and inference process. This trend has allowed the community to progress towards more challenging and open tasks and refueled the hope at achieving the old AI dream of building machines that could pass a ...
متن کاملCardiovascular correlates of emotional expression and suppression: do content and gender context matter?
Three studies examined cardiovascular (CV) responses during emotional expression with empathically responsive strangers. Study 1 demonstrated that self-relevant emotional expression fostered CV reactivity consistent with challenge. Study 2 manipulated content of discussion by assigning participants to 1 of 4 conditions: emotional, nonemotional, emotional suppression, nonemotional suppression. I...
متن کاملAre there intelligent Turing machines?
This paper introduces a new computing model based on the cooperation among Turing machines called orchestrated machines. Like universal Turing machines, orchestrated machines are also designed to simulate Turing machines but they can also modify the original operation of the included Turing machines to create a new layer of some kind of collective behavior. Using this new model we can define so...
